Inman News: CleanOffer not out to replace agents

Dear Editor:

I was extremely impressed with this article; professionally written and entertaining, it also generated relevant feedback from Beth Hahn, president of the American Homeowners Association. In response to Beth's question, CleanOffer.com was never meant to replace the real estate agent. Consumers seeking to purchase or sell a property without an agent have different expectations from consumers who choose to work with an agent.

Created by real estate brokers, CleanOffer's mission is to enable the consumer and their real estate agent to develop a strong, unique partnership. Consumers who use the CleanOffer Web site are committed to their real estate agent and appreciate a higher level of empowerment in their property search. Agents subscribe to CleanOffer because they recognize that a client's commitment is key to their success. Our experience shows that by providing their clients with what they want (MLS access and CleanOffer's tools), real estate agents are more likely to work with informed buyers who expect their agent to fulfill more of a strategic business role.

CleanOffer provides comprehensive MLS listing search capabilities but it is not a public real estate Web site. Instead, it's a password-protected tool for subscribing agents and their clients. Consumers seeking to purchase or sell a property without agent representation can certainly visit any of a number of public real estate listing Web sites. While not nearly as effective as CleanOffer.com, these sites can certainly give them a decent overview of the market.
